The injured England and Manchester United player mistook the timing of the message "5am" for the name "Sam", Miss McLoughlin disclosed in an interview with women's magazine Marie Claire. "He went: 'Who's this Sam?' thinking it was some lad," Miss McLoughlin, 20, said. "I'm going: 'What are you going on about, who's Sam?"'
